Hi guys

I wanted to share some observations I made. Under KitKat 4.4.4, my N5 gave me 2 to 3 hours screen-on time. Under 5.0 that dropped as far as 40 mins, an hour tops!!
Yesterday I got 5.0.1 OTA and guess what: I hit the 15% battery (from full charge at around 6:30) after 2hrs and 44 mins screen-on time at 16:30 ... that's good enough for me.

So how's your battery experience under 5.0.1?

I loaded the 5.0.1 update last night, and will be giving battery life a go later today as I head out. Thanks for sharing your results!

Buddy: What brightness setting do you typically use?

...I'm not using my Nexus 5 as a daily driver currently so I'm afraid I can't comment on battery life with 5.0.1.

Not much of a difference here really, though I have never really had a problem getting through a full day on my 5. I did notice a general increase in battery life when I installed Lollipop though.

2X to 3X times better.
Woke up this morning at 90%.
Screen brightness set to 50%.
Cell Standby & Phone Idle usage much lower.
Far fewer problems with buggy apps burning battery.

My Nexus 5's battery life is significantly improved with 5.0.1. I mean...significantly. I was really crashing hard with 5.0.

Maybe the reports of improvement are on a different network or something. I notice absolutely no difference in battery life after the 5.0.1 *OR* 5.0 updates on T-Mobile.

Better. I typed a reply while streaming music and the battery did not go down 1%. Before I could not even look at the screen without it going down 1% every minute or so.

I would say it's improved. I made it to 4 hours screen on time with my first full day on 5.0.1. I was lucky to make it over 3 hours on 5.0.

I would say it is even worse now with 5.0.1.I loose 12-15% of the battery overnight. I am now at the end of the day at 36% with only 45 mins screen time. It really really deeply sucks. Google should never have released Lollipop with such major battery bugs. I am solo sorry for all users for their absolutely utterly crap experience, reminds of the days of Win 98 then Win 98 SE then ME hoping that you will eventually sometime get a decent OS...I feel exactly the same now with lollipop...

my battery life is still terrible even after 5.0.1.

so far, 3 hours off charger with 14 minutes of screen time, my battery went down 100% -> 93%. i had decent battery life in kitkat and was generally happy with my battery life but this is just unacceptable

^^^My experience is similar. Are you, like me, unable to work out what's causing the drain? Because for me at least, the usage stats in the stock Battery Usage and those shown by GSam Battery Monitor, which I use and should have thought was a straightforward and trustworthy app, are completely different.

I think this may have to do with poor signal. When I'm at home I have a very strong WiFi connection and almost full bars of LTE. I usually get around 4 hours screen on time. At work I have poor signal all around and my usage is similar to what your are saying here.

Battery life slightly better than 5.0.0 and considerably better than Kitkat. I did a factory reset after installing 5.0 update, but did not bother to repeat after 5.0.1
