Chatheads on the Nexus 5

Hello, I'm a new Nexus 5 owner and I was wondering why whenever I go to play a game my chathead will disappear. It works fine with all other apps, but games. Is there a fix? Or am I the only one who has to deal with this inconvenience. Help would be appreciated! Thank you!

There's a setting within the messenger app, under chat heads, to hide them if an app takes up the full screen. Just deselect that option.
