Why is my Nexus 5 randomly shutting off after update to 5.1.1.?

AC Question

Why is my Nexus 5 randomly shutting off after update to 5.1.1.

A few days ago my Nexus 5 received an update to 5.1.1. Since then it has been randomly shutting off. It has shut off at least 5 times today while doing different things (e.g. while using Facebook, while texting, while using Chrome.) It has even shut off when I wasn't using it.

I can almost always reboot it, but I will only get a few minutes use out of it before it shuts off again. There was one time that it was stuck in a boot loop, and when it eventually booted it started "optimizing apps."

Has anyone else had this issue?
Thanks.

Welcome to Android Central.

Have you tried a Cache Partition wipe? That's the first thing to try, since it causes no loss of personal data and is easily enough done.

I recommend joining as a member so that you can post in the Nexus 5 forum. :)
