Since I started using the phone, I think it is trying to link to my iMac desktop. The icons for the tel, hangouts and mail keep popping up on my iMac with a message "There is a problem". What is the problem?

It could be a sync or SIM card problem. Go into system settings > accounts > google. Make sure you are logged into an account and that the account is syncing. If that's not the problem, then make sure you have a working SIM. You'll know if it's the SIM if there is no cellular signal or the "!" may have a SIM card icon.
