I sold the G4 to help curb costs for my final semester of college starting in January. I'm back on my trusty Nexus 5 now. While my time with my G4 was short-lived (about 3 months), it had some great strengths that I miss. But this Nexus 5 is the perfect size for my hands, I love the way it feels, and it runs super fast on Marshmallow.

I replaced the battery and also changed to the red backing to spice things up a bit. Feeling kind of like a new phone!
I'm interested in the 5X and the Priv (I'm an old BB fan & it seems like the perfect combination for me), but perhaps I can wait out another whole year with the Nexus 5...three years with a phone? That's crazy talk though! :-0

Nice! Yeah, I went from the N4 to a the N5 and I couldn't be happier... now, I must ask: where did you get the battery? OEM?

That's an interesting post. I've experienced something similar. I've always used a case on my own 5, but using it caseless recently, it feels like having a new phone. I just need to get round to replacing the scruffy screen protector.
Like you I feel that this phone feels good in the hand.
I find that performance is still top-notch. Also, I find that battery life is dramatically improved since the Marshmallow upgrade.
I bought my own 5 in March 2014, and even then it had been for around for some time. So I've got a new phone that's twenty months old. :)

I got it here: Amazon.com: Google Nexus 5 LG D820 D821 Battery BL-T9 Battery Replacement Part USA Seller: Cell Phones & Accessories
Some of the reviews claim they received bad batches, but the one I ordered fit perfectly and is working great.

Almost half the reviews are negative. I still suspect they are all still old, used batteries, pulled from returns and scrap or some type of clone. I guess time will tell.... make sure to update us in a few months if it is still working and seems normal. Thanks

PS- yep, the Nexus 5 is still great. Fast, easy to use, perfect size..... just poor battery life and even poorer options for what to do about it.

Yeah, I'm using this caseless myself right now. That combined with the new red back really makes it seem like-new again (previously used a Seidio kickstand case).
Marshmallow has done amazing things with battery life indeed. And it's so smooth...and the UI is just so much cleaner than what I used on the G4.

It's truly a great device.

Yeah, could be! The new battery might be "old", but it's still better than my original one, so it's working great for me so far. I'll keep you updated!
