Today my Nexus 5 is working overtime and gulping down power like there is no tomorrow. As in flatten the battery in 4-5 hours. When it does this, it is usually held awake even though I'm not using the device.
GSAM says the temps are running about 105-106F, which I can confirm as the device physically feels hot. It is stuck awake, and GSAM and Settings both point a finger at the Android OS. The top drawers according to the settings app are:
Android System
Screen
Google Play Services
Android OS
GSAM says that Android System is pulling 30.7% of the 75% of the CPU being consumed by apps.
I'm running Lolipop 5.1.1.
It's been doing this all day. Earlier today the settings app was pointing a finger at Pocket, which was set to sync once a day. I did remove it but it made no difference.
I've restarted my phone about 4 times today alone. .
Past experience says it'll quit doing this after 5-10 days, but who knows!
I had been planning to replace the device in the next 4 months, probably with a Samsung S7 (or S6 if it dies before then) UT the concern I have is that the bad behavior will continue. I last factory reset about 6 months ago.
Any ideas what would cause this problem?
