Exclamation point in Verizon Bars

All of a sudden there is a exclamation point in the top right of the phone, right by the signal bars.

What is this?

In Lollipop, the ! usually means there is an internet connection, but no connection to Google servers.

Thanks. I ask because recently I was having the exclamation point issue with my n9 next to the WiFi bars. It has since went away with a new router.

The staff writers did an article on it, and after I read it, I paid close attention to how my N5 connected. In the same manner it used to, it would connect, get the !, then the standard icon, as to in KK, it would connect, go orange, then white.

It definitely had an issue with my old router, an N300 netgear. Kit Kat devices had no problems. It seems true what you are saying.
