Erasing phone and it's taking a long time!

Hi folks. I decided to erase my phone and start fresh and its taking a longggggg time. Is that normal?

Last time I wiped mine, it took about 15-20 minutes to completely finish and boot back up, for reference I've got the 64 GB version, not sure if it would take less time with the 32 GB or not.

What method did you use to reset? I always just flash images in fastboot and it takes no time at all.

If you have encryption enabled i believe it will take a lot longer as it scrubs the device like the old blackberrys do.

If it does that, that's kinda stupid. It just needs to get rid of the encryption key to make the data unusable

That was using OEM unlock since I wanted to flash the newer factory image,and the bootloader was locked prior to that.
