Nope, also a first timer.

Seems a bit intimidating - does anyone have a decent tutorial?

Re: Marshmallow 6.0 Factory Images are Live

I've done it a lot. My best recommendation, especially for a first timer, is to read up on it (a couple links below) but to then use a toolkit, such as this one: Nexus Root Toolkit v2.0.5 | WugFresh - this simplifies the process to a great extent. The most challenging part honestly is getting your drivers set up correctly. Once that is done, the rest is just following direction.

https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?hl=en (official instructions)

If you are using WugFresh's toolkit, there are plenty of YouTube videos to walk you through it.

Post Here When You Get Marshmallow 6.0 OTA

I've always been curious how fast people get pushed the OTA for updates. I see people randomly post in different areas so I figured I would start a thread to isolate the talk into one spot. So post away when you get it to let everybody else know when and where the rollouts are happening.

Cheers, although I've just muddled though it using instructions that I'd Googled.
It wasn't too bad - although I've rooted other devices before, so complete novices proceed with caution :/

And a screen shot of your About Phone page with Build number would be nice to see, too, in these early days.

If memory serves correctly the Nexus 6 was the first nexus that allowed for carrier approval of the OTAs. So could you please post what carrier sim you have in your Nexus 6 when you receive the OTA?

Flashed now. We will see. First thing what I don't like is at setup android want download english dictonary, what does it help to typing. But that is not for me. New blue theme not for me. :/ Still not Android Pay for International device.
Be careful: fastboot oem lock doesnt work after flashing image. You have to go through phone setup than you have to enable usb debuging and oem unlock and then to lock bootloader.

You can't. Have your buddy flash the M build. Or you can do it yourself. I'm going to do it tomorrow.

There's no way to go back to stock to get the update?

Will wait for over the air updates. No need to rush. It'll be rolling out soon enough. Just to busy :(

It's in the new System UI settings. Long press on settings in the pull down shade and then down at the bottom of settings app.

Along with the Android Marshmallow images, Google also today pushed out a plethora of new builds of Android Lollipop for Nexus devices. For the Nexus 6, you’ll find 5.1.1 (LMY48T), 5.1.1 (For T-Mobile ONLY) (LYZ28M), 5.1.1 (For Project Fi ONLY) (LVY48H), and 5.1.1 (LMY48W), and 5.1.1 (LMY48W). There’s also 5.1.1 (LMY48T) for the Nexus 9 & 9 LTE, as well as 5.1.1 (LMY48U) for the Nexus 7 Mobile (2013).
