Default bobj (or other) ethernet adapter and nexus sleep?

I noticed someone said his ethernet adapter would be automatically shut down when the screen went off, and wondered if this is also true for the bobj adapter, which seems to be the one to get.
I want to run long downloads via ethernet without the screen on, to save battery, of course.
Anyone using the bobj or another easy to use ethernet adapter who can confirm it runs with screen off?
    Thanks!

    To answer my own question:
I found a terrific free app to prevent various bits of the nexus sleeping, called Wake Lock.
The bobj works great too. Plug n play on nexus 7 2012.
