It's so easy with the one click tool I see no reason not too. It's also very easy to un-root with the tool. I did it so I could use OTG USB which makes this device even better!

search the forum or google for "wug's toolkit" - his one click works on all nexus devices.

instead of searching you can go to the verizon galaxy nexus rooting subforum, it's a sticky in there.

also, afaik, you're windows 8 drivers/lack of may still be a problem but it's worth a shot.
