Default what does hacking ur nexus give u freedom for?

I'm trying to get a poker software that runs on non-tablet PCs to run on my tablet. I understand that tablets are made application specific, google tablets only run google apps. If I hack my nexus will I be able to run the any software I want? The way I see it, I don't understand why the hardware in the tablet is that of a computer but it doesn't allow for the use of similar programs? Or in that sense why doesn't a tablet allow for any type of software given its limitations? Can someone help me?

Sorry, for the most part you can only run Android Apps on Android devices, Windows Apps on Windows Devices, iOS apps on iOS devices, and Blackberry Apps on Blackberry devices. Rooting doesn't change the OS to allow cross compatibility.

Yep this. You won't be able to magically run an app on Android that wasn't written for Android.

While it is possible, good luck. Between windows and android the hardware specifically the processor is so different you have to rewrite the app for that, along with different pieces for the OS and so on. So while rooting would help you with that, by asking the question on this forum you likely lack the skills to accomplish this and the time it would take to gain them would be more costly than saving for a windows tablet and buying that one.

Don't feel bad, I lack the skills too lol.

I I hate to admit it but the above statement necessarily is not true. There are several forms of emulators out on the market which run software for Sony playstaion, Nintendo 64, and Atari2600.

Running emulators takes a lot of processing power typically 10x or more what it takes to run natively, and tablets like the Nexus 7 are considerably less powerful than a modern PC, so emulating a PC isn't viable unless you want to emulate a 15 year old one. The nexus 7 does happen to be a lot more powerful than the consoles mentioned, which is why there can be emulators for them.
