Can't close Android File Manager

I'm quite new to my Nexus 7 and I'm not wanting to do anything complicated, so I hope you are not too high-powered to help me out! :-[ I have opened the Android File Manager to delete some personal videos. Now I can't close it. It is sitting on my home screen... I tried pressing the back button at the top and nothing happened. I have re-started the tablet. -- No result. When I swipe down its little icon at the top on the home screen, it shows up greyed out.
Any ideas? BTW I will be installing a better file manager soon, as I read the ES one is a lot better...

if you want it's not hard just settings>apps>(app name here)>force close>ok and thats it
