If you want to tether your Nexus 7 to your phone, then go with CyanogenMod 10.1

I tether all the time running stock.

To the op, better is a little subjective. Depending on who you ask and depending on what they value in their ROM you'll get a variety of answers. Try em both and decide for yourself.

Agreed! I was a big fan of cyanogen on my og droid and a few other phones, however I think stock is way better , very surprised to see that!

I've installed Cyanogenmod to have bluetooth MAP working. (to read messages on my Mercedes' display). I further hoped to get a better camera performance, and for a built-in equalizer for my music.

Bluetooth MAP is working as expected, the camera performance is still a bit dissapointing, the equalizer is sufficient.
