Back Up Question

Hey, sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm new to Android and absolutely love my Nexus 7... however there's some screen separation that seems to have gotten worse and is picking at my OCD, so I requested a replacement.

My question is: exactly what (or how much) is backed up to Google on my email account? I know it backs up my apps and I think settings, but does the actual app data get backed up? (Like progress in a game, settings in an app, etc.) Like I want to know what will stay the same when I get my replacement.

I also copied a lot of the files from my tablet to my laptop, but I don't know exactly what they are (they're the random files that come up in android file transfer).

You can login to you Google Dashboard, find your device, and see which apps on that device are storing data in Google's cloud. And I noticed most apps don't really store much.

This is one reason I really like to root. Titanium Backup Pro lets you back up apps and their data, sync it up to Dropbox or somewhere else, and then restore it back to a new device.
