Default How to read a library book on the Nexus 7?

My wife has a Kindle Fire and she downloaded a book to our home computer with this format (AZW File (.azw)). She downloaded the file to the Fire via USB and it works great. Now I have a Nexus 7 and I've also downloaded the Kindle app. However, I'd like to download the .azw book file and read it on my Nexus. Unfortunately, I don't know if this will work or what folder to place the file in so it will find it. Also, where is the Ken Follett book located that comes with the Nexus?

    Any advice will be appreciated.

I get the impression that Amazon Prime's library lend feature only works for the Kindle Fire and Kindle readers. So it might not let you read the file with the Kindle app on the Nexus 7.

But there is a Windows program called Send To Kindle made by Amazon. I'd install that. Then when you right click on a compatible file, it gives the option to send it to any device with the Kindle app installed on it.

Or you could try the USB method. On your Nexus 7 there is a \kindle\ folder that you can drag it into. The Kindle app should load what you put in the directory if it accepts it.

I just tested it out with my Kindle. I borrowed a book from the Prime library. Tried the Send to Kindle option from the PC, but that errored out, AZW files not a supported format.

So I tried the other way, copied the AZW file to my Kindle folder on the Nexus 7. And the Kindle app saw it and let me read (kinda surprised it work actually).

Zo reader will read azw files. It's free in the play store.

I just opened one of my old kindle books on my Nex 7. Can read with no problem. When I installed the app I was recognized automatically & all my books were in the lib. including the one I had checked out of my pub. lib.

Okay guys, here's what I did, but it didn't work.
    • I moved the .azw file to the "Amazon" folder (didn't work in the "acw" subfolder).
    • I opened the Amazon Kindle app on my Nexus and the book was there as a dowloaded item.
    • I clicked on the book, but got an error message "Invalid Item - Please remove the item from your device and go to Archived Items to download it again."
    • That method didn't work.
    • I then downloaded the Zo Reader app, but when I open it no books display and I don't see any reference to Zo Reader in my list of Nexus folders so I don't know where to drag-and-drop the .azw file.
    • I'm stumped.

    It's really quite simple.

    1. In Zo reader press the 3 dot option button.

    2. Press open book. Navigate to whatever folder you put the book in.

    3. Profit.

Well, I found the file in the Zo Reader and I see the book cover, but it just displays an "X G" in the upper left hand corner of a pure white page and when I try to flip the page it either says "First Page" or "Last Page". There must be something wrong with using this file originally intended for my wife's Kindle. Thank you for trying to help me - much appreciated.

Yes, it works perfectly with the Kindle app on Nexus 7 but requires you to use a browser first:

    1. On your Nexus 7, make sure you're registered in the Kindle app as the SAME account as the one that took out the library book

    2. Go to the amazon.com page for downloading the library book in your browser (on desktop or Nexus 7, doesn't matter) - this page is where your library told you to go

NOTE: You MUST be logged in with the same account that took the book out of the library

    3. On the right hand side of the page is a drop down for delivering the book to either a device or desktop (which is what your wife did). You want to select your android device from the dropdown

    4. After sending it to your Nexus 7, on the nexus 7 open the kindle app and click the three-dots icon in the upper right and select "sync & check for items"

    5. Click the magnifying glass (for searching) and type the title of the book and it should be there

You do NOT need to ever use the .azw file!! Do it all wirelessly following my instructions above

Here... https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...51bGwsMSwyLDNd ...is what you need to read public library books. They have their own ePub reader or you can get .mobi for the Kindle app.

6tr6tr - I followed your instructions and this is what happened:
    • The dropdown for downloading only had my wife's Kindle as the option, so I selected that.
    • I had the Nexus connected to my home computer via USB and I did see the book in the "Downloads" folder on the Nexus.
    • I opened up the Kindle App, clicked on the 3 dots and did the sync, but nothing happened - zeros in all 4 fields.
    • I tried the Zo Reader and found the book in the Download folder, but it wouldn't read it - just a blank white page.

I'll try the next responder's suggestion, but thank you for trying to help me.

There are certain books (Amazon Prime Lending Library is among these) that can only be read on a Kindle device and not a Kindle app.

I check out digital books from my local library regularly but some are restricted by the publisher to Kindle devices only. These books must be downloaded and transferred to a Kindle Device.

It sounds like your book is one of these books. If, on the manage my kindle page (your Kindle Library), there is no "Deliver to my..." option and only a "Download & transfer via USB" then that book can only be read on Kindle devices.

After much searching and some trial and error I have discoverd this solution to reading Kindle books on your Nexus. Download the Kindle reading App from either Google Play or Amazon. Register your tablet on Amazon under the same account as your Kindle. You will be assigned an email address for your tablet. Email your book to your tablet's email address and it will be added to your Kindle library where you can then send it to your tablet. Be sure to sync and check for items with your tablet so your library refreshes and includes the new content. It worked for me for ebooks(.mobi) that I purchased outside of Amazon or Google... good luck!

My advice is to find a cheap e-reader(orig. Kindle, Sony, Nook, etc.) & use that to read your lib e-books. Then you will not have to worry about reading it before your book is returned to the lib.(automatic with e-books).
