    Default Where is my shipment?

I ordered a Nexus 7 for my boyfriend on November 29 (Thursday). On the same day I received email confirmation from Google Play that my item has been shipped. Fast forward to today (Dec. 4th), the UPS tracking status still reads that: "only a label has been created. When the shipment arrives at the facility, the status will be updated." Fed up
I called and talked to a Google Play representative. The guy was pretty useless. At times he was in total silence. I had to call out a couple of times to ask if he was still there. I hats to act like a *B but that guy really irritated me. He told me he will email a specialist to ask about the status of the piece. 24 hours later, I still have not received any response. I am most epissed off by the fact that I paid $7.99 for 2-day shipping.

I looked up to see if anyone has similar issue. It seems like it happened back in July when the tablet is first introduced.

Anyway, just want to see if anyone is experiencing the same problem.

you are fed up because you have been waiting for the device for 3 days
Dont post this on nexus forum!!

Sat and Sun dont count towards shipping and handling so i would make a guess that would get it tomorrow.
I would recommend checking your mail(where ever that comes) because google didnt send me shipping details and when they send me package have already reached my apartment office.

Its due to all those high demand for nexus 4 and nexus 10.

You mean they didn't deliver it same day?!?

Next time you need to have instant gratification walk into a Walmart, buy it, then walk out with it in your hand.

The fine print in the Play Store says it may take up to 2 business days for them to even process the order.

Almost the exact same situation here. I ordered an N7 with mobile data on the morning of November 29th and early morning on the 30th (around 3am ET) received an email stating it shipped and provided a tracking number. Since that happened so early in the morning I'm counting that as business day 1. I understand it takes some time for the UPS system to update (24 hours as Google Play says). The UPS system had an expected delivery date of yesterday, but only said that a label was created. Well yesterday morning came and went and still no update from UPS. Called Google Play support and had a nice girl, but useless. Told me if left their warehouse since that's why I got a tracking number, but no other information beyond that. I also emailed them and was told my email was forwarded to a specialist. No response from them.

Right now it's at least two full business days after it shipped (really 3 since Friday should count) and I still have no update on the shipment.

The only reason I'm getting pretty ticked with them is that I paid $14 for two day shipping and it's now three business days after it "shipped" with no information on where it is or when it will be here, and no one seems to know anything

I've been lurking around here for a while so I knew not to expect anything great from them, but I often order things from Amazon and use the two day shipping and it arrives frequently the next day, and the UPS system updates pretty quick. No idea what Google is doing but it seems like they probably just have pallets of these sitting around and haven't passed them off to UPS yet. Hopefully that's not really the case, and it will ship out tonight and be overnighted...

Thank you for your respond. It is good to know that someone has similar trouble.

Not sure why people are so hostile on this forum. Like you said, mainly mad because you had to pay so much for shipping when google can't held up their promise of 2-day shipping. I know I will definitely not do business with Google Play.

The hostility comes from having to read entirely too many posts all over the internet of people having horridly outpaced expectations of what they think they are "entitled" to.

Two day shipping only applies once it leaves their warehouse. It does not guarantee that you will have the device in hand exactly 2 days after you click on the order button. And as for it truely being "2 days" that is a claim made by the UPSs, Fedexes and DHLs of the world. Google has no control over that once the white, brown or yellow truck drives away from their shipping warehouse.

Seriously, its the middle of the *busiest* shipping/buying season of the year and the me-first unions on the Western coast have seen fit to shut down all shipments coming onto the continent for the last 8 days! But yeah, its Google's fault.

I knew what to expect, I read everything on their site before purchasing. Unfortunately for me the only way to get the N7 HSPA version is through Google Play...if it was available in a store I would have bought it at a store.

I knew it would take a few days to process the order, I wasn't expecting instant gratification. However when you receive an email saying "Your order has shipped!" and provides a tracking number, I expect that it shipped. I also am "entitled" to receive what I was forced to pay for - in this case 2 day shipping...I'm not "entitled" to more or less. When it comes to the 4th business day and no one can tell me where my item is, I think it's ok to be frustrated. Credit card was charged, item was "shipped" (per their website: "Once you place an order, charges generally post to your credit/debit card after your order has shipped"), and no one can tell me where it is or when it will be here? That's pretty ridiculous if you ask me. I don't think I'm asking for too much - I just want to know why it's taken twice their quoted shipping time.

That's where we differ. I think you *are* asking too much. First of all, your beef is most likely with the shipper and not Google. In any case, like I said above, the logistics for the entire left half of our continent have been completely put through a titty-twister by the longshoreman's union refusing to cross a fellow union's picket lines for more than a week. Have some perspective.

If you want someone to be mad at, be mad at the people that decided to use the holiday shipping season to grind the country's economy to a halt in order to extort their employers at the worst possible time. I'm sure they would give you a heartfelt answer why your product isn't already in your hands.

In any case, both UPS and Fedex have money back guaranties tied to their 2 day shipping. Assuming your shipping details conform, you could always try and stick them with the cost for the unfortunate set of events that has occurred the last week. I mean, it really wasnt their fault as the situation is completely out of their control, but at least you can get some satisfaction out of making someone else pay for the issue.

You know some people around here need to chill out a little! The original poster is pissed that even though she paid extra to expedite her shipping, she expected to get it quicker! I don't blame her for being pissed, as she paid the fee to do just that! Of course this is a very busy time for UPS because of the holidays, but as long as UPS gave her a tracking number, she just figured it had shipped, and I would have though the same thing.

And if the OP would have just continued on to think, hey it's a really busy time of year, oh well **** happens. Then life would have gone on and in another day or two, she probably would get her boyfriend's new toy. Instead, she's sworn off doing any more business with Google... Talk about cutting off the nose to spite the face. Yet I'm the one that should chill a little? Good call.

So true, everyone looking to be pissed off at someone else these days! When I read the 2 day shipping was $8 extra I couldn't believe she called and got hostile with some innocent phone rep (like he was holding up the shipping personally). Then to swear off doing business with Google Play, wow, seriously bad decision. I am guessing that "boycott" will be short-lived.

Is it barely possible that any anger should be focused at UPS? Mine was ordered at 10:46am on 12-3. Got a "shipped" notice with tracking at 4:36am on 12-4. I think I checked the tracking # around 8 or 9am, "not in system". I think it finally showed in the system sometime that night, but of course as "label printed etc..", Shipping to NC was $13.99 and shows as 2 day air, even though I doubt it was ordered that way ( I didn't order it, shhhh! it's a Christmas present). It states in the original email under shipping status "Delivered in 3-5 business days"

My thinking is that Google has a deal setup with UPS to deliver in up to 5 business days. UPS waits as long as possible ( for a bigger pile at once) and dose the actual shipping as if it were an overnight shipment. I've seen this on many tracks, where the item sits in one place for 2 days and then hauls **** over night.

But the OP has a point that if they paid extra for 2nd day, it should have been there on at least the 4th, but really the 3rd....

Most of us here on the Nexus 7 forum are actually pretty nice and try to be helpful. Sometimes, though, we do get a little too defensive or irritated (ahem, JustinMueller8810! http://forums.androidcentral.com/sho....php?p=2400441) , especially us "veterans" of a whopping four months on the N7 forum. We tend to see more complaining than praise, which is unavoidable and natural in forums like this, so our tolerance level is a bit low at times. Our like (or love) of the Nexus 7 and the very good (but not perfect) experience that Google has provided makes us a little edgy when it comes to what we perceive, correctly or not, as nitpicking. So forgive us our sins of irritation with your frustration. In the end, we simply want you to have a good experience with your N7, from beginning to end!

Now then, regarding your situation, I think the real confusion here is coming from the fact that you received a shipping confirmation email, but nothing has actually shipped. This confirmation actually means that your order was processed and entered into the UPS system, not that it necessarily left the warehouse. The fulfillment warehouse contracted by Google likely ships in batches, possibly based on shipping region, both for logistical and cost control reasons. But step one is to create the shipping label and enter the package information into the UPS system. Once that's done, a confirmation email is automatically generated, which probably really shouldn't be called a shipping confirmation. You might get another email confirming that the package is actually moving, but if not, you'll need to check the tracking number a couple times a day to see if the status has changed.

I understand your frustration with not getting a good answer when you called Google support. This is a normal reaction when reliable information isn't as forthcoming as you'd like. The reason they didn't have a good answer for you was that they only had the same information you did. That is, the order was received, shipping information had been entered and transmitted to UPS, and that's about it. The rep you talked to was probably silent because he was trying to navigate the computer system and get more information about the status, and needed the time to do so. He was likely inexperienced or still in training (or just not very good), which is why he was silent instead of asking to put you on hold or occasionally telling you his status.

Additionally, though it would seem like a simple thing for him to find an answer to your specific dilemma, these reps are not specialists in just one area. They are generalists, required to answer a myriad of questions about lots of different topics and devices, so to quickly pinpoint an answer for one specific problem might understandably take more time than you'd like. I guarantee you that his performance is also being evaluated, so if he doesn't improve from the type of experience you described, my guess is that he'll eventually be shown the door. But for now, remember that not everyone is a customer service superstar. Being Google, I can imagine there's a fair amount of performance pressure being put on these people! So I would go easy on him, as he is just trying to make a living, same as you. Or maybe he's just an incompetent jerk. Who knows?

I can also under your anger with paying for 2-day shipping and then getting an email saying it shipped, yet a day or two later it apparently still hasn't shipped. It certainly is irritating when information you receive doesn't prove to be 100% accurate, at least in terms of the title of the information. But once it does ship, you will indeed get it within two days, and possibly the next day, unless UPS screws up. The shipping cost is going to be there no matter what, and if you were only charged $7.99 for 2-day shipping, that's actually a pretty good price. The alternative would be to buy from a local retailer, but you'd still have the cost of your time and gas to get to the store and make a purchase.

Lastly, the current shipping status online for new orders states that orders will be delivered in 3 to 5 business days. If this was same as when you placed your order, then that means you should receive it anywhere from Tuesday to Friday of this week, depending on what time of the day you placed the order. So I would be more concerned, but not overly so, about Google fulfilling this promise as opposed to what a shipping confirmation tells you. Here is what Google states regarding their shipping estimate:

"All packages are delivered via UPS two-day shipping. However, please note that it may take up to 2 business days for us to process your order for shipment. Once your order has been shipped, you will receive an email notification with a UPS tracking number. Your estimated time of delivery will be determined at the point that your order has been processed and shipped. It may take one business day for the UPS package tracking to return any information for your tracking number."

"If you have not received a package tracking number after 2 business days have passed, please contact our support team."

I hope you get your unit soon (maybe you'll get a surprise today!), and that once you do receive it, you enjoy it thoroughly, and can forgive and forget this initial negative experience. Good luck!
