Just a heads up...the new version of the Nexus Media Importer has been uploaded to Google play as of today - March 24th, 2013. And it now includes writing to FAT formatted drives!
Some reviews already online of the new version. I haven't tried it yet (Don't want to upset my stable setup yet)...but just an FYI...

What's in this version:
Version 5.0
+Write Support for FAT (Enable in Preferences)
+Many enhancements to the Advanced tab
+Move & Delete functions for writable media
+Resolved Conflict with Android Mounts (non Nexus devices)
+Better USB device support
+Better device error recovery
+Crash Fixes
----
So now one can write up to 32GB flash drives/usb keys...and if one uses a special FAT32 formatter, one can write to 64GB+ flash drives...or attached hard drives (Though I imagine those are mostly NTFS / exFat). NTFS is still read only...but perhaps that will be upgraded to write also later this year.
