Since a couple of weeks ago, when my apps are automatically updated from the Google Play store, sometimes they show the error message "Couldn't install on USB storage or SD card." Would anyone know what could be causing this please ? I'm running avast! Mobile Security, but it's not reporting any problems.

Go and delete smdl2tmp1.asec yourself. From what I can tell, it could reside in 2 locations:

/sdcard/.android_secure - this is an invisible folder on your SD card, which you can access with any file manager, like ASTRO
/mnt/secure/asec/ - access to this folder requires root and a program like Root Explorer

These are all temporary files and would be no harm in deleting those datum. Hope this helps to some extent

Thanks for your reply, but there is no /sdcard/.android_secure directory, and the /mnt/secure directory is empty (I've turned on 'Show Hidden').
