Thing with circle and six dots inside missing

My wife's Nexus 7 has the Apex app installed and she inadvertently got rid of the circle with 6 dots inside. I have looked everywhere but cannot find it. Where does it live? Any help would be appreciated.

I guess you're talking about the shortcut to launch the app drawer. Just long press on an empty spot on your homescreen. One of the options should say "Apex actions" (or something like that; I don't remember). The app drawer shortcut is one of the items on the list.
