Google search battery drain

I just noticed this today. I left my nexus 7 not charging for a few hours, and when I come back, it was at 5%. I'm not exactly sure what the percentage was when I left, but it wasnt lower than 50%. I checked the stats since I knew it hadnt been that close to dying when I left. Stats showed that Google search was using 44% of the battery, with nothing else near that level. This is crazy because I RARELY use Google search. Maybe once every few days. I'm annoyed because I just got that irritating mediaserver glitch under control. Hope someone can help :(

What version of Google Play Services do you have installed? The latest version that's currently pushing is 4.1, which is supposed to fix some battery issues, so I wonder if it might help with this as well.
