Nexus 7 first gen won't boot properly after screen replacement

I just replaced the display on my Nexus 7 first gen. The first time I tried to boot the screen was white. Not the normal black. I did see it going through the boot process and it did boot but everything was very white. I powered down and reconnected all the cables. This time the screen is white but there are lines on the screen and I can't tell if it is actually booting. Any suggestions on where to start?

Re: Nexus 7 first gen won't boot properly after screen replacement

Yes, but you probably can't. Replace the screen with a known-good screen, to eliminate the possibility that the screen you got is defective. If the phone works at that point, put the screen into a known-good phone to make sure that the screen is working.

At that point you'll know what needs fixing/replacing.
