How to restore usb app on my Nexus 7 tablet?

how to restore usb app on my nexus 7 tablet

When I go to settings, I see the Storage and USB but when I enter and go into APPS, there is no app for storage or USB app. When I plug my tablet into my computer, it indicats no files. The tablet can charge with both the computer or wall outlet, so I don't think its my USB plug. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you using the original data and charging cable that came with the device? Some cables are charging only, not for data transfer.
