I just got back from Best Buy with my new Nexus 7. It was not an easy process... Here's my story.
I got rejected by a few employees because "The release date is July 30. We can't sell you one". This is not true. I got a good employee who actually checked the internal system. There is a memo that says (in bold) that the release date was changed to July 26. Problem solved, right? Almost. Now you need to get passed the managers who didn't believe it at first. They still refused to sell me one. A couple employees finally convinced them that today was the new release day. Payed for my new toy and walked out.
So, don't give up if they deny you at first! Best Buy's official release date is today. I saw the memo myself.
