...so is it worth getting a Nexus 7? Does having 2.3 more inches of screen make that big of a difference? Or should I go for a bigger tablet?

I had a nexus 4 until last week and I was a happy owner of the original nexus 7 as well. They can coexist.

The main advantage is the much longer battery life of the nexus 7. Use the nexus 7 as a media consumption device at home or long trips and use the nexus 4 on the go.

For me the lighter weight and the comfort of a 7" tablet far outweighs the extra screen estate on any 10" tablet. I have GS3 and an N7 and there is a sizable screen difference between the two.

I have an Optimus G and the Nexus 7 is great. There really is a big difference in screen size. Also I prefer a 7" tablet because it's easier to hold for longer periods of time.

I own a Droid DNA and have a few friends with the nexus 4 (I.e. s4 pro SoC) and we've all noticed gaming hasn't been as smooth as we've liked, especially compared to snapdragon 600 phones. Is this the case for the nexus 7 as well?

All the games I have tried have been fine. Anandtech came away with the impression that the processor was not a stock S4 Pro more of a S600 that didnt quite meet specs.

I also have a Nexus 4 and that is mainly why I felt that I needed to upgrade from gen1 to gen2; I could feel the lag after using my buttery smooth N4.

But yeah, I love having both. When at work and home, I never use my phone except for actually calling people. I use MightyText to allow me to text from my N7, so even texting doesn't need the phone. Using a 7" in screen feels like night and day in comparison to the N4. Go into Best Buy or Staples or something and give it a test drive.
