And the damned thing is just out of Staples' 14 day exchange period

Plugged it into charger and it keeps blinking the notification light 5 times.
Unplugged it and it stopped doing it after plugging it back in.

Tried all combos of volume and power buttons I could think of because the old Nexus 7 had a reset button combo.

Any ideas?

With all the issues, I'm going to recommend that everyone hold off on buying it for three months. No way all these quirks are firmware...I've done embedded work before and a few issues feel like definite hardware bugs :-(

Did you try holding down just the power button for 10 seconds?

16 seconds and its back on. It had full battery 2 days ago and I barely touched it. Says 8% power after charging for 10 minutes

Anyone have random power drains?

Power drains are usually due to apps or flaky wifi routers. Check the battery screen in the Setup App.
