Retail with no sale is 229 USD. I got it for 179 from Office Depot a few weeks ago. I think 200 is reasonable.

It really depends on when you are trying to sell it. Right now, sealed in the box, you may be able to get $170-180 for it. You can buy one from Best Buy for $199 right now AND get a $25 Google Play gift card with it, so I don't see many people wanting to give you $200 for yours. It seems that at least once per month, somewhere has it on sale for $199 or even less.

I would not pay more than $150 for a private party sale. There is no instant return available in case it is a dud, and then there is always the possibility of fraud. Also, as others have pointed out, these units are "on sale" quite often.

I agree with this. I may even go so far as to say that the Nexus 7 is cheap enough that I personally just wouldn't risk an individual seller unless it was sub $100. However, I think you could probably find someone willing to pay $170.

Ya gotta figure, why's the guy selling a new tablet? Is it because it's a lemon, or maybe it's stolen, and then there's probably no warranty whereas I get 2 years warranty if I buy it new, one from the mft. + another from the credit card.
