Nexus 7 2013 setup on Verizon won't work? My friend in NJ/NY area is not tech savvy at all. He just got a Nexus_7 2013 WiFi only from newegg. He has a big Verizon plan that covers tv, Internet, phone etc. His old rooted nook connected fine. This new tablet cannot connect. I am at a loss. He is hearing about problems with Verizon's router. FIOS? Can anyone help an old person who doesn't understand "widgets" as he puts it.

Perhaps your friend should just go to Starbucks or McDonald's (or any other place that offers free Wi-Fi) and get it activated, and then he can figure out what's going on at home.

Thank you for all the info. His nephew is coming over tomorrow. He is a tech person in some capacity. So we shall see. My son and he both suspect the Mac setup. Nephew seems to think it may have have been on when he set it up for my friends rooted nook. (which is the one that is dying & the reason he bought the Nexus_7.
I will let you know how it works out.
Thanks again.
Linda
Btw: I read the link you provided & left my thanks there. It is well done and I have it saved & have forwarded it. I am not as up on things as say, my son, but I am no where near as frightened of it as my friend. I understood it. ;)
