Official Asus branded Nexus 7 cases

Does anyone know when Asus is planning on releasing the offical cases they teased for the Nexus 7? And I am wondering if they will use the magnetic features to power on and off the screen automatically.

Somebody in a thread over at xda said the ASUS case is a smart case. So I think it will have the magnet. I'm going to order one when they are available.

Asus produced the tablet for Google so hopefully they already have them made. Releasing the cases now before anyone does gives them the upper hand in sales.

Im pumped for these cases. I complained awhile back when i had a gtab 10.1 All the cases were leather and had no youth to them. So far this tablet has hit all my marks.

I'm hoping these are released soon. I am holding back on buying any other 3rd party case because they all seem so clunky.

From the photos it doesn't look like it but who knows. I hope they make an announcement soon, wouldn't want anyone's Nexus to get scratched!

When it comes to cases I'll rather wait because I made the mistake of buying the Xoom with moto's case on release day and what a mistake it was!
Now every device I get I wait to see some reviews on cases before buying one...

Just a heads up, got my 16GB today with case, and I'm not too impressed. I don't think the magnet feature is present in this case and it seems like i can still manipulate the screen with the screen covered. Not sure I'm liking it. Also, no stand function. Hope that helps.

Hoping those Asus covers are released real soon. Hope to get one that folds into a stand, like the one I have for the TouchPad.

Yea I don't think the one they are selling on the play store is the same as the ones Asus announced, but Asus really needs to get on selling those things. My new Nexus7 is way to pretty for anything to happen to it

Definately don't bother with the ASUS case (from the play store). No stand, no smart magnet feature, and it activates the touchscreen. Damn thing flipped at least 30 pages on the kindle book I was reading when I set it down for a minute or so. Thank god I wasn't in the email app or something where it could do some real damage.

Yeah I'm waiting for the Asus ones (the ones they tweeted a pic of), preferably in orange.

I really want a case, but the ones I've seen are all hideous. So far I've just ordered a sleeve and a screen protector from Amazon so I don't leave this tablet completely vulnerable. I hope that whenever these cases come out, they'll be thin enough to fit into the sleeve because I wanna be able to carry it in my backpack without worrying (and just the case kinda worries me)

EDIT: Asus would be really smart to release the cases soon. Most of the people who ordered a Nexus 7 would be interested in that case, they could be losing tons of money by waiting because other companies will start making more cases.

But I don't think it's legit. I mean the fact that there's a hole for a camera in the back tells me it's just a generic 7 inch tablet device. It looks nice, but I'm gonna just wait for the Asus one.

I sent a message to Otterbox via Twitter asking if they had any plans as of June 30th...and they don't...Stupid Jerks...Why the heck not?!?!?!?

Did manage to come across this Treegloo case. Seems like it's the best option in my opinion. I'll order one soon. Shipping July 30th it states.

That's not the Asus case. Well it is, but it's the official Google lanch case. We won't know for sure about the next (colorful) ones until we get them. I would think they are the same, but we'll see.
