NFC Error out of the box....

So I FINALLY received my N7 today, was very excited to run home and start her up..... finally do and i get this on the start screen:

Clicked Ok and it just keeps coming back over and over and over again which eventually doesn't allow you to input my router password. You can see that here in this video:

Anybody know a way around this? I'm also wondering if my NFC chip is toast right out of the box...... ahhh the life of an early adopter....

Well... so far I can't use my N7..... I can't get passed wifi input.....

The only option I'm thinking off right now is hard reset??
 
You could try a hard reset, but unfortunately, I am betting it's a hardware thing.
 
I'd try a hard reset for both of you, if that doesn't work, you now sadly have to deal with returning it and getting a new one, and as someone who hasn't even been processed yet, I feel you guys pain. Cross your fingers on the hard reset!
 
Ya know I think I got this when I fired mine up for the first time. I turned it off and a minute or so later turned it back on, clicked that big white arrow and it went away and hasn't been seen since. I had a hard time getting past the WiFi but that's because I kept doing it wrong.
 
u try turning it off and do the 2 button reset..i believe its volume up and power and hit factory reset..if not that may volume down and power..hopefully this helps
 
Definitely suggest factory resets for those issues right away. If it doesn't clear it up it sounds like a hardware issue, you should look to exchange them ASAP, unfortunately.

Trying hard reset now.... process going very slow... stuck on a Google screen waiting...... and waiting......
 
Hard reset doesn't seem to be working..... goes to a Google screen and gets stuck..... I've let it sit for 15min while i browsed on my laptop....

Mine also got stuck and wouldnt go past the Google screen. (I had problems with constant freezing/rebooting and was trying to do a hard reset). I took it back to Sams Club this morning.
 
I guess another reason to regret ordering from Google Play... I can't just go exchange it now.... I have to wait....

On the phone on hold..... for a looooooooong time to see if support can do anything. Sucks being one of those 1-2% that gets a bungled device..... ARGH!!
 
Progress..... Hard Reset finally started working..... its going through the process now..... Rebooting... praying....
 
Finally have someone on the phone....

"Wow.. ummm....thats a new one...."

I explain that I've hard reseted it and tried multiple things, he says ok we'll just have to RMA it. It'll be shipped directly from Mountain View... back on hold while he processes that... I hope they overnight it with a return label.... man this sucks.....

I ask, "Wait you're not going to dispatch one right now and possibly overnight it?"

I go into about how this whole thing has been a cluster and how we got screwed with the pre-orders while others are picking them up in stores, having to wait another few days is a bit ridiculous..... You guys would be surprised the level of calm i was about to do this with... I was also very courteous to the guy since he was nice in return....

This rep seems like a pretty young guy and responds "Awww man I haven't even gotten mine yet and I work here....."

Really?

Not much else I can do, he goes on to tell me that I'll be dealing directly with the big boys from Mountain View from this point on until I get my new unit and the "great news" is I will have it by this week!! Ugh......
 
Wow that's crazy. You wait and wait for yours to arrive, and after it does, you have to do the whole waiting thing again!

At least you got to caress it's supple body. I've heard nothing of my preorder.

Ordered on July 6, 9:20AM Pacific, 16GB, no case.
Still nothing. No email, credit charge/hold, play store update or wallet update. Nothing.
 
Though I gotta say, this seems to be the one good thing with dealing directly with Google instead of getting it through a vendor. If you have any issues its probably easier to work with Google directly (although it may take longer).
