Google Nexus 7 Tips and Tricks

I just found this, and thought it was kinda neat. If you hold down "Power Off", this pops up. :)

On one of your five home screens, hold down on an empty space. This will open up a small menu giving you multiple options in regards to your wallpaper. Here's a screenshot:

Tired of the crap sound from our Nexus 7 speakers? Put it in an (empty and dry!) ice bucket. This makes it sound like a poor man's iHome. :D

I actually found this trick on accident. Hope it helps! :-)
Sooooooo..........go on gallery, then an album, click on one pic and instead of zooming in zoom out of pic and u will see that u can slid pics better. But....... that's not the trick, next u have to slid up on the pic and if u want u can delete the pic yr on. I found this trick the hard way. :( Hope no one else does. :-)

Too late. http://forums.androidcentral.com/go...oogle-nexus-7-tips-tricks-10.html#post2213413

Here's a really neat trick, boys and girls:

  1. Open up the Play Store app.
  2. Click to Play Books.
  3. Search for the Nexus 7 Guidebook (from Google).
  4. Buy it. It's free.
  5. Go to your home screen. Make sure there's a blank spot.
  6. Open the All Apps view.
  7. Click Widgets.
  8. Find the Book widget.
  9. Tap and hold it to add to the home screen.
  10. Select the Nexus 7 Guidebook.
  11. Now you don't have to go through this thread to learn basic operations, you can RTFM right from your Nexus 7's homescreen.
Isn't that neat?:p

EDIT: Oh, I also have it on video for those who don't like to read.

Cheers. Here's another one :)

As we've had a software update recently for the Nexus 7, I thought I would add a basics video on the subject to the growing library:

Great videos vgjfelix. Can you please tell me the trick to get the battery meter on the home screen like you have in the top right hand corner? Thanks.

You were also too late as reading the manual was one of the the threads first suggestions ;-)

I will second Mechinikel's request to our British GN7 maven vgjfelix, regarding help with the Battery Widget? Reborn Pro. After I downloaded it from Google Play, the larger widget icon that I dragged onto my homescreen has remains static (always showing a level 75% battery life). Meanwhile, the smaller icon situated in the upper left corner of the GN7 tablet will countdown, indicate the actual battery percentage status. I noticed in vgjfelix's YouTube video for this widget that both icons displayed the same percentages on his GN7 tablet. I played around with the widget setting on screen #3, to no avail. Thanks

I see, it's called Reborn Pro.

Did you put the App on your home screen or the widget? I notice that the App always says 75 but the widget is the one that counts down.

Here is a video of it:

I second this, (although not the video review, mine's better and actually on the Googplay Battery Reborn page ;)... It looks like your picking up the app icon and not the widget. Go to the app draw (middle button in the dock) and then press widgets and find the battery widget, then drag that onto your homescreen

I
i cant get that to work

They have to be on the device. Online pics don't work with this trick. There's an undo too.

It's never too late to recommend RTFM..

BTW I use Battery Monitor Widget Pro. Worth the price for all the widgets and monitoring options.

I'm right handed, but it seems to work best tapping links, with my left thumb, or left forefinger....especially for X (closing) multiple open tabs, when using Chrome

Don't worry, I was joking. Reading the manual is the first thing you should do. Especially if it's and eBook on your device!

I can heartily recommend using doubleTwist to transfer tracks from iTunes to your N7. You just install it on your pc and N7 and wirelessly transfer from your iTunes. I just transferred a playlist of special favourites rather than my whole library. doubleTwist also doubles (1) as an excellent music player displaying album art in Google Play or by tapping the doubleTwist icon.
