Is the Nexus 7 already out of favor with Google?

It is quite clear at this point that software updates for the Nexus 7 are not a priority for Google. They have allowed the WPA Enterprise connection issue to simmer for over 2 months without a update or even listing it as an issue on their support pages. One problem with Google is they suffer from Corporate ADD. They may be all gung ho on a product and then it becomes yesterdays news as their focus turns to something else. I'm beginning to suspect that Google's attention is already elsewhere. When I purchased my Nexus 7 I didn't expect it to be perfect, but did expect updates on a regular basis. So far in the over 2 months that this device has been out, there has been exactly one update for it (pushed out at about the same time as the public launch). Google has not commented publicly about the WPA Enterprise Connection issues and their front line support people are unaware of it (or at least claim to be). Very sad indeed. I would have to think 2X before buying another Google device. I have to say for my next phone or tablet I will take a closer look at what Microsoft has to offer as I doubt they would let a bug like this languish for over 2 months.

Yeeeeeaaaaahhhh... MS left a lot of bugs in their code and features missing for months. Not to mention, when they started to update their devices, they bricked about half of them. Good luck with updates from MS.

Just because this is a Vanilla device, Google isn't going to update it daily. This isn't CyanogenMod with nightly releases, they have a business to run and need to keep their code relatively bug free before releasing it. Yes, it's an error with the software (maybe), but who are we to say that Google isn't working on a fix? They may be keeping it hush so as not to get the customers' hopes up for a specific date, only to miss it because of something unforeseen. I'm sorry that you're angry, but fixes can take time.

Correct, if the device is upgraded to Jellybean they will likely find that they will be unable to connect to a WPA Enterprise Wireless Network.

While I also want them to fix a bunch of issues, please name one company that has a major hardware device where they fix bugs faster than that on a regular basis. Apple certainly doesn't.

I thought this post looked familiar. It's found in this thread. Actually, a quick Google search on this issues reveals a lot of similar worded posts and comments. At any rate, I see there was a patch you could flash, did you try that to see if it works? Really sucks for people currently on ICS and waiting for an upgrade to JB, only to find out they can't connect to WPA Enterprise secured wi-fi anymore. Hope you get a fix soon.

How often do you expect them to push updates? Once a month? Twice a month? Once a week?

I have owned and used Microsoft devices. In my experience, they have abandoned devices. Two of them were Windows mobile devices and one of them was the Zune HD.

Nexus Devices get updated more then non Nexus devices. Its been a year and my phone still does not have ICS. I guarantee the next Android phone I get will be a Nexus.

Look, as soon as Google releases new software, the Nexus line will be the first to get them, before anyone else. Nexus devices have a better track record for updates than any mobile device. Quitcher' whinin'.

These lack of updates are pushing people away from Android. In my opinion, the next two years are make it or break it for Android. There are too many branches and varieties of Android. Nobody is on the same page and that dilutes the product and weakens the customer base. If Google doesn't get its act together and gain control of Android, I see this OS going the way of Blackberry. As a diehard Android fan, this frustrates and worries me. Vanilla Android is such a great operating system.

My sprint galaxy nexus just got updated to jelly bean. I'd say fairly quickly after jelly bean came out too and it is CDMA.

Your opinion of "fast" differs from mine. The other variations of the Nexus started getting Jelly Bean in July. You're getting it two months later and you're on a Nexus device. If the Nexus is the flagship device and the face of Android, why should you have to wait any longer? This isn't good promotion of a flagship product line. Just imagine how long non Nexus users have to wait!

I do not buy devices with the hopes of what they will have some day. I buy devices for what they are when I purchase them. I do not expect my S3 to get Jelly Bean. I will more than likely purchase a phone that has Jelly Bean on it standard.

Most devices seem to run roughly a year behind whatever the current OS is. I think that is due in large part to manufacturers having to spend the money and allocate resources to screw up the OS into whatever skin they like to use.

Sorry to be so thick, but what's the difference between WPA Enterprise wireless and what everyone else is running? I've taken my N7 literally dozens of places, with all sorts of WiFi networks, and never run into this.

Who cares about wpa enterprise whatever that is. All i know is lots of my apps keep getting updated. And they uodate and load faster than they do on my ipad 3. Looks like another chronic complainer is in the ranks.
