Galaxy Nexus owners..
I have a Verizon Galaxy Nexus with a 4.1 ROM on it and it's awesome. I preordered the 16gb Nexus 7 today but am now wondering if it was a good decision considering there isn't much of a difference between 4.6 in and 7.
Anyone else in a similar situation? What are your thoughts in the difference of screen sizes? I have a Xoom and have never held a 7 inch tablet before. - 07-04-2012, 01:22 AM #2
Re: Galaxy Nexus owners..
im in the same situation. i went to a verizon store to play with the original galaxy tab (7 in) and i really liked the size of it. it fit perfectly in my hand and the screen size was large enough to browse the web or play games.
i think the 10 inch tablets are too big to use in public in my opinion. after using the galaxy tab for a bit, my galaxy nexus screen looked so small so its a good difference in size
i cant wait for my nexus 7

Re: Galaxy Nexus owners..
A few things my N7 will do better than my GN: play graphics-heavy games, e-book reader, watch videos/movies. I'm sure I'll find even more things after I play with it for a bit.

I have a 10.1" Acer A500 and I was surprised to find out for me, that 10" is actually too big. I think a 7" tablet would be perfect for my use when I want to use something that has a bigger screen than my gnex. The fact that the interface will be identical on the N7 to the gnex, I find a plus.

Re: Galaxy Nexus owners..
I didn't hesitate (well, only for two days!). To me, it's a no brainer that books, magazines, movies, etc will be better on a 7 inch display. At the same time, 7 inches is a more ideal tablet size IMHO. Plus, like others have stated, I'll be happy to have a real straight from Google experience on my N7 (unlike the CDMA Nexus). Can't wait!

Re: Galaxy Nexus owners..
I have a g-Nexus and have a Galaxy S3 that just shipped out today. I had wanted a Galaxy Note/Journal as it is more in between, but Verizon has not offered it yet. Have seen the rumors about the Note/Journal 2, but will most likely hold on to the S III for quite some time. I was forced to upgrade to G-Nexus as my Thunderbolt broke. I found out about the S III release date 19 days after I got the G-Nexus, and VZW wouldn't budge on the return/exchange.

In the future, I am planning to pay full price for my phones anyway in order to retain my unlimited 4G and hot spot.
Anyway, my point was that the 5.3 incher would have been a nice intermediate between the G-Nex and the N-7. Oh well, more toys to play with...

Agree.. Looking forward to certain games that the Gnex screen just isn't that great for, and also sure I will find things its better to use for.
Also can't wait to unlock and flash something fun on there.. AOKP should support it since most of their devs are getting one, lol

Re: Galaxy Nexus owners..
The difference might not seem that big on paper, but in actuality, it's huge. 7 inches is simply better at doing some things, such as gaming, reading, and watching movies. I think that the n7 will be a perfect complement to the Galaxy Nexus.

Re: Galaxy Nexus owners..
I think the longevity in battery life, increased screen real estate, and increased performance justifies my order of the N7. The 7 inch form is great, easier to hold, and more mobile. Especially when on travel where I typically try to minimize my phone usage to increase battery life, I think the N7 would make a great companion device to my GNex.

My wife and I both have the GN. She also has a Kindle Fire which has a 7 inch screen. There is definitely a worthwhile difference between the screen size of the Fire and the GN. And for that reason I will soon be a Nexus 7 owner.

Despite what Steve Jobs says, 7 inches is the perfect size for a tablet!

Re: Galaxy Nexus owners..
I definitely have to agree with what pretty much everyone else is saying. While you wouldn't think there's a big difference between the 4.65 and 7" screen sizes, I feel the Nexus 7 will be well worth it even with having my Galaxy Nexus.
While I obviously can't state anything as fact, I would imagine that reading books and magazines, along with web browsing and video viewing, will be a much better experience on the tablet. Plus, while I don't game a lot on my phone, I can see myself playing more games on it, as well."My work is not a piece of writing designed to meet the taste of an immediate public, but was done to last forever." - Thucydides, ancient Greek historian - 07-05-2012, 01:11 PM #17
Re: Galaxy Nexus owners..
I'd also have to agree. I personally own a Kindle Fire and it's a great companion to my Galaxy Nexus in terms of size. Considering the Nexus 7 is the same size, I personally can't wait to get my hands on it. It's a pretty great size, and I prefer it over 10" tablets.
Just my two cents, though!

Re: Galaxy Nexus owners..
I pre-ordered also, I will probably use this as an excuse to go back to a "reasonable" sized phone. After all I get by with a BB for years with a 2" screen. I figure with the tablet that I will probably go back to using the phone for primarily emails and phone calls of course.
