    Default Extended Service Plans

Ya know when you have that nagging though in the back of your head as you are doing your purchase. The voice that is debating if you should spring extra for the extended service plan? Just give in an buy it.

I got my tablet today and by 9pm I needed to use the plan. Short of the long the tablet slipped out of its case, went flying across the bathroom and wound up in a (clean) toilet.

Thankfully I did by the plan. The problem now is getting through to office depots service center.

Do they actually cover water damage? I have been screwed by that one before. The play store purchases have a 1 year exchange policy. Just call them and they will send a new one with a return shipping label for the current one.

I made sure that I got the premium plan rather than the standard plan. It does cover accidental damage from handling and it expressly covers liquid damage.

True, but some accidents are unavoidable. This one was caused by pets getting underfoot, me losing my balance..

I have to ask. Why did you need your tablet in the bathroom? It seemed like that was the first avoidable choice with a new tablet.

Fair enough question. I had just come home, went straight to the bathroom. Was attempting to place the Nexus on the vanity before doing anything else. It is nice and big and stable and DRY. The dogs (not cats) decided they missed me and wanted to see me. Disaster ensued.

Ah, Zedorda you have never taken your phone with you to the rest room to read? I see a small tablet being used in similar fashion.

If you're not using your tablet in the bathroom then you aren't doing it right. I'm not reading any analog magazine on the toilet. The future is now!

    Heck yeah I'm a reader!

Does anyone have any experience dealing with square trade? I bought one for my PS3 but never used it. Would like to know how the claims process went.

yes, used for a camera a few months ago. Sent them proof of claim and payment and was reimbursed through paypal a few days later. Easy peasy.

Thanks for the info. so you just sent whatever they require for proof? You kept the camera & bought a new one with the insurance money?

I used it for a used item I bought from Ebay (a Roomba). It would shut down after a few minutes of cleaning. I put in a claim and they basically asked if I wanted it repaired or my money back (this was 2 years after the purchase). I choose the money in the form of a Amazon credit.
They paid to have the item shipped to them and a day after they received it I had a credit waiting for me at Amazon (I could have choose PayPal or a check also).

I have no problems with Square Trade at all.

I'm sorry this happened. The look on your face had to have been priceless, though. I don't know whether to laugh or cry with you.

It seems like the prices for Squaretrade warranties including accidental damage are fairly reasonable. It's a shame they overlap with the manufacturer's warranty for the first year, but if they'll just give you the money it probably makes it much easier.
