Re: Chrome browser really lags, what are you using?
wouldn't mind the choice between stock and chrome but chrome does not seem laggy at all to me

Re: Chrome browser really lags, what are you using?
Yeah I downloaded it but I don't know how to install. Its a system app so I know you have to put n system>app folder and restart but that doesn't even work on my rooted galaxy nexus and it won't work on a stock unrooted nexus 7. Unless you got it working. Did you? If so, how?

Re: Chrome browser really lags, what are you using?
Under security settings make sure you enable installation of apps from unknown sources. Then just download the install the apk. It won't be a system app, but it might not have to be, only one way to find out, lol. If it doesn't work, simply uninstall and you'd have to paste it to /system/app and reboot, which should work, I do it literally all the time on my Gnex.

I hate Chrome on tablets, wish I could have the stock browser back!

Re: Chrome browser really lags, what are you using?
Yeah I can't the APK you posted working on the Nexus 7. I wish Google would update Chrome soon to have improved scrolling/pinch to zoom/response to touch. It truly is unfortunate. And if I may mirror what someone said earlier, it does work better on the Galaxy Nexus than it does on the Nexus 7, but, the stock Browser on Jellybean still works better than Chrome on both.
So I am using Dolphin, but I think it is an ugly browser and I don't like the way it renders text. But it is fast and super smooth. Any other browsers out there any good? Maxthon I think has too much going on on the Screen, and its not as smooth as Dolphin. - 07-18-2012, 02:39 PM #38

Re: Chrome browser really lags, what are you using?
I definitely prefer using the stock ICS browser over Chrome on my Galaxy Tab. Heck, it even syncs bookmarks with the desktop Chrome browser!
Was OK using Dolphin, but now I'll have to try to make sure I get a backup of it before it updates and doesn't allow Flash! - 07-18-2012, 04:11 PM #41

Re: Chrome browser really lags, what are you using?
Okay, I found the best browser so far. X Scope. Scrolling is pretty good, pinch to zoom is quite good, the UI is like a darker version of chrome, it has ICS Holo theme, and it is a nifty gesture for navigating forward and back between pages. This has now been set as my default browser until I find something better if you guys post some new findings.

Re: Chrome browser really lags, what are you using?
This is an interesting thread. Chrome on my Nexus 7 for me has been laggy in only two areas.
1) when I am replying to posts in forums like here. (I am using my work laptop - don't tell)
2) when trying to select my bookmark webpages from the browser. A few times a day i have to repeatedly press the bookmark to get the Nexus 7 to register the touch. Even though it acknowledges the touch by lighting up. I have had to hit it 3-5 times before.
That is pretty annoying.
I may try dolphin again, but to be honest I never liked the style of it on my Galaxy Nexus and the whole reason I use/like chrome is the ability to sync with my home browser.
I already have 4.1.1, maybe there is a 4.1.x coming sometime to fix Jellybean? - 07-19-2012, 05:01 PM #47
Re: Chrome browser really lags, what are you using?
Fwiw... I'm running the CM10 Kang now on my Tablet and (as it should) it comes with the stock browser, no Chrome. So happy. Stock browser eats Chrome for breakfast.
I know that the non-unlocking/rooting crowd won't be impressed, lol.. but if anyone here likes flashing stuff, I made a thread in the Rooting section for the ROM.

Re: Chrome browser really lags, what are you using?
Yeah I am getting dangerously close to rooting the thing. Lol. I think what makes me so sad, is I really love the look of the Chrome browser on the Nexus 7. The tablet UI is beautiful. But its just not smooth enough.

Re: Chrome browser really lags, what are you using?
I just downloaded Dolphin HD and put the view settings to iPad since it didn't offer an android tablet option. I'm already noticing vast improvements on sites like Facebook. I can't believe Chrome lagged to the extent it did. Go Dolphin!!
