I have had mine since last Friday and love it. My 7 year old son, who is autistic, enjoys it more than I do. We have already spent hours together exploring the Nexus 7. He really loves those Cut The Rope games.

I have the first Nook Color and used the heck out of it until I got the Asus Transformer. I thought that was a good experience until they put ICS on there and now it is very unstable.
So with this purchase, I am very pleased with the performance and handling of my N7 and JB. I use this thing for everything now and paired with my Galaxy nexus, I am good to go!

I'm an iPad2/iPhone4S user and my Nexus 7 blows my iPad2 out of the water. I love the form factor, the light weight, the awesome screen, and the fluid speed. This is a killer tablet. On top of that, Jelly Bean is incredible. I can't believe I was using iOS all these years. It is night and day. Google Now is AMAZING while I couldn't even get Siri for my iPad2. I'm completely sold on the Nexus brand so much so that I just ordered a Galaxy Nexus from Google Play. Kudos to Google.

It's 2am and I'm using my iPod to type this because I'm scared to pick up my N7, I know I won't put it down and sleep LOL.
I sold my Playbook which I did enjoy, while traveling through Mexico the last few months. I had seller's remorse until I saw the announcement for the N 7.
I miss my back beautiful camera on the Playbook , but I can honestly say I love this N7 more.
It's whispering to me now, so I'm going to bed so I don't have that zombie look in the morning.
P.S. I was debating about giving up my BB phone for either iPhone or an Android phone , debate over Nexus here I come. - 07-20-2012, 02:24 AM #61
Re: I Am Amazed By This Thing
I'm glad I waited for this to come out before getting my first tablet, didn't like the 10" models, this is the perfect size IMO.

Re: I Am Amazed By This Thing
I have an Android phone and an iPad 2 that was given to me, so reading all these comments has made me almost decide to buy the Nexus 7. To the other iPad/tablet users, did you find the smaller screen hard to adjust to? How does the speaker quality compare to iPad? I use it a lot for watching media.

Re: I Am Amazed By This Thing
i'll just toss this in too. ive been an android user since D1 and have had many since (dx,dx2,bionic,razr) but when VZW finally gave us a nexus device (well kinda) i moved to the Gnex.
The Nexus program really shows what android is all about IMO. A lot of the complains about android are usually related to skinning that the manufactures do to their phones UI and the changes they make to the OS to integrate their proprietary software.
Why I think this device (N7) is so important is because it shows users, many who will use android for the first time, how good it can be. When i got my N7 i wasn't surprised at how good it was. I was expecting it to deliver in the same way that other Nexus devices has done. The fact that Google threw a lot of freebies at us and kept the price point down shows that they missed the market on tablets by letting the manufacturers ruin their operating systems experience. They needed to make a splash with this device to convince people that android CAN exist and run well on a tablet.
Furthermore, they needed to convince the developers that they can grab enough market share in the tablet space to make it worth their while on the development end. Although the sales numbers are not yet out, it does appear that this device will achieve this. We have already seen a large number of big app developers make changes to format to the N7.
For any of you that are still on the fence, you need to give this device a try. IMO, this is the best android tab to date and really showcases what the operating system can do. The price point and free goodies, just make it a no brainer. They easily could have sold this device for $100 more (prob would have had to increase the storage, but that's cheap), but they didn't because they need market share in the tablet space. Take advantage of this. You wont be seeing any hand outs like this from apple anytime soon, if ever. - 07-20-2012, 06:29 AM #67
I Am Amazed By This Thing
Received my nexus 7 last night - UPS delivered a crushed box and ran away before I could get my door open.
I would have rejected the delivery BUT UPS was gone so I opened the broken UPS box. The nexus box had no dents and the plastic bubble protected it from whatever crushed the UPS box.
Unboxing was easy - first push it through - second cut the tape on both sides - third pop off the cover. I was expecting the movie DVD experience - nothing is worse than trying to unwrap a movie DVD.
The nexus 7 is fun using google now "go to amazon dot com", "note to self", "translate hello how are you to french", "weather tomorrow" etc and the games are faster and sharper. News, weather and sports, google docs, sky, translate, music all are more enjoyable. I believe it is a great $200 purchase.
I also have a Xoom, nexus one and galaxy nexus - and the nexus 7 is by far the least expensive purchase to date - but could replace any of them (except for the cameras). Everything but the Xoom is running jelly bean and I quite honestly like them all. My Xoom is like a new tablet each time I get an update.
I realy like the "NEXUS" concept and hope it proves very successful - read yesterday a very large Chinese company is releasing a new android with no skin - just a simple nexus front end. It is about time. - 07-20-2012, 07:38 AM #68
I received my Nexus 7a week ago today. I absolutely love it. I have found some workarounds for some of the limitations. I now have flash player, can shift to portrait mode, and I was super pleased to find that Swype is now supporting 7 inch screen sizes!
I bought the first iPhone (back in 06?) It was clunky, confusing and just an all around pain in the backside. I felt like I had been robbed of my $600+ two years of at&t service for the damned thing. I went to T-Mobile after that contract, sold my iPhone for $50 and ended up with my first android. The mytouch was my first android. Even though it was slow and somewhat crude, I enjoyed the layout much better than the iPhone. And, you didn't have to be independent wealthy to purchase one.
I've stayed with android faithfully. I have had regular access to Apple products throughout the years and even though android has been riddled with operational issues, I stuck with it.
Now, with my Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 in hand, I am reaping the rewards of my patience. These are superior products, with the ultimate os, at realistic prices with the flexibility of virtually unlimited customization.
I am beyond pleased and I am glad to see this kind of progress. Jelly Bean is fantastic and I've flashed it to my GNex. Thank you Google for bringing this product to the masses and making it available to folks in all kinds of income brackets. You are the true pioneer!

Re: I Am Amazed By This Thing
The smaller screen isn't hard to adjust to. My wife got my iPad 3 when I got my Nexus 7 and she handed it to me last night and I was shocked. I said, "Geez, it's huge!" My only initial disappointment was muted colors on the display but I'm either adjusting to it or it's getting better. Obviously the new iPad has a beautiful screen so it's hard to compare. The speaker on the Nexus 7 is pretty much on par with the iPad 2/3 speaker. Definitely not an issue for me, it sounds fine.

Re: I Am Amazed By This Thing
Wow, good ideas with the card readers and usb sticks. I was already regretting not getting the 16GB version but this seems like a good option.
I love my nexus 7. I've been holding out on a tablet for years and finally pulled the trigger on this one and I am extremely pleased so far! - 07-20-2012, 09:16 AM #75
I'm loving my nexus too! Gaming is awesome and I've been tinkering with Wiimote app and n64 emulator works great together, also games like shadow gun and others work great aswell
