Anybody else still have their 7 in the original plastic casing?

I am super scared of getting the screen scratched and have therefore kept the plastic on from unboxing until I receive the screen covers that I ordered today.

I'm OCD and gave it a thought for about 20 seconds.... then I tore it off. I bought this to own it so I decided...."this is mine" and took all the clear film off. I haven't regret it. I own this... this is mine... and it works. So yeah stop being so anal and take the plastic off.

I'm OCD about that, but I always take that off my new stuff. You're going to use it after all. This comes from a guy that bought a sleeve for his N7, which I plan to also have in an official case.

take it off. I put a screen protector on it and it's not going to well...the little squegee card scratched the protector up, it makes the screen look hideous when the screen is white.

I have one more, I'm going to try it, and if it doesn't work the screen's going naked.

While in that plastic sleeve you *could* be asking for static electricity problems. So, you could be asking for trouble of a different and more serious kind. I don't think the glass scratches as easily as you might think. Use care of course, but I don't think you need to be quite so careful as keeping that sleeve on it.

my understanding is it is gorilla glass 2, so take off the plastic and let it breath

No it's not Gorilla Glass.
And yes, I'm keeping my original plastic on until my Zagg Invisible Shield comes in next week.

my screen protectors came, after replacing my nexus twice. That screen raise problem has been haunting me but I think I finally found 'the one'. No plastic wrap on this one

I bought a iBlason case and stylus combination. The stylus is rubber tipped and works well. It won't scratch the glass. I have tried screen protectors and hated them. The case takes advantage of the Nexus 7 automatic on/off feature.

My advice is to forget screen protectors and just get a case with stylus.
