Re: Google Nexus 7 Tips and Tricks
New tip for anyone trying to trick there Nexus into thinking its in another country using DNS change.
For instance I use this to watch Netflix USA content in Canada.
When you are connected to a Wifi connection go to the list of connections.
tap and hold onto the network you are connected to. It will bring up a menu to "modify network"
This allows you to change more then just the IP address, but also the DNS so you can make these changes. Works great for me. I can switch between Canadian and American content fine. Like usual Netflix just thinks you are travelling.First time Android user coming from iOS. Owner of a Nexus 7Thanked by 5: - 07-30-2012, 12:07 PM #54

Android 4g and 3g users can use FoxFi to turn their phone into a free wifi hotspot.

Re: Google Nexus 7 Tips and Tricks
What a great thread! Glad it got a "sticky"!
I particularly appreciate the hints about getting Dice Player and Ultimate Rotation. As much as I've always liked MX Player Pro, there's no comparison to how well Dice Player works on the Nexus 7, as well as on my Galaxy Nexus HSPA+.
As for Ultimate Rotation, it's flat out the best (you don't have to "root" it to do this) app that adds essential functionality to both my devices. Simple, painless, and cheap.
Whatever you do with these though, GET the paid apps, or in the case of Dice Player, definitely donate (as of August 1st). These folks have worked hard providing these apps to us, and the least we can do is support them a bit financially. That keeps the ball rolling, and encourages more of these great developers to continue to make our lives easier.
So give 'em five or ten bucks (or more if you can), you can't eat a cheap meal at Arby's for that, and these will be a lot better for you!

Re: Google Nexus 7 Tips and Tricks
Another thing I found.
If you start the clock app it will bring up a big digital clock on the screen.
But if you tap it once it will dim the screen wasting less battery, but still visable in a dark room. Tap again and it lights back up.First time Android user coming from iOS. Owner of a Nexus 7 - 07-31-2012, 11:45 AM #57

One problem I had was in interfacing Nexus 7 with USB cable on my MAC. SOlution is to download Android File Transfer then works perfectly.

Re: Google Nexus 7 Tips and Tricks
Ever want to print from your Nexus 7? If you have a network enabled or WiFi printer, then you may be able to print. You just have to get the free Cloud Print app and configure your printer through the GOOGLE Cloud Print page. To print, you just hit the 3 dot configure button and choose Share. Then choose Cloud Print. I only tried it on a web page so far.

Re: Google Nexus 7 Tips and Tricks
I've just discovered one. In Google Now, clicking on the weather card brings you to a Google search in Chrome, with a large weather card at the top. The trick/tip is, you can drag your finger along the time interval to see the expected temperature, humidity, wind, and precipitation. Pretty handy if you wanna plan some outside events (especially here in New York where we get 90* weather with 100% humidity!).

Re: Google Nexus 7 Tips and Tricks
No flash on jelly bean is a pain as in UK and BBC iplayer wont work on Nexus.I use my icecream sandwich Galaxy Note but did access my PC using Splashtop Whiteboard app and used the PC to get the iplayer and then watched it on my Nexus. This would work for other sreaming. Whiteboard version is what it says and makes your tablet a mini whiteboard which you can use easier than laptop to do projected presentations etc. You need the pc and obviously a projector
