New Google Wallet app
Google just released update to Wallet to be able to use ANY CC you wish.
But I don't see an option to update it on my Nexus 7. Is it because I'm rooted (when I launch it it says Unsupported device, because it's unlocked).
Can I just use this one instead?

In my case, even though the app was set to update automatically, I had to go into the download section of the Google Play store and update it manually. Once the update was completed it already had the account info for the Amex card used by my Google Play account added to my wallet.

Re: New Google Wallet app
You use the back side.
I've used my Nexus 7 for NFC payments twice and it seemed to work best for me when I already had Google Wallet open and had already input my pin number. After the cashier has completed the order just place the back side of your Nexus 7 against the NFC reader and wait for about five to ten seconds.
While it seems like nothing is happening (and you must be doing something wrong) all of a sudden you get the Google Wallet tone and the Google Wallet logo pops up on your screen and then you get an electronic receipt on your screen.
If you still have NFC anxiety there are a few videos on YouTube that show the process - just search for "McDonald's Google Wallet."

Re: New Google Wallet app
I had to do the same. No matter how many times I attempted to update from within the Google Wallet app or the Play Store, it would always tell me I was up to date.
You can easily tell if you have the latest, besides the obvious that your cards aren't showing up. In stock app, the unlock/PIN screen was blue. In the new version the unlock/PIN screen is gray. - 08-04-2012, 11:53 AM #18
Three tips....
1. You have to run it as a credit card, not debit
2. You don't need Wi-Fi.... you won't get the receipt if not connected but it will work fine
3. You can ignore the unsupported banner
