Best way to send/receive text messages on Nexus 7?

Hello all!

I am the proud owner of a Nexus 7, and a Motorola RAZR Maxx. I was wondering what would be the best way to receive and send text messages using the RAZR as a medium for the tablet?

I used to use the app MightyText to a similar effect to be able to send/receive from my laptop, but I would like to do this on the Nexus 7 as well.

Would the best route be to setup a Google voice account and use that as my gateway between the two? If so, what's involved in getting that setup?

Or, is there another app out there that does exactly what I'm looking for?

Durr. I'm dumb.
This seems to be the best bet out there on the Play market from what I gather --

MySMS Tablet

Any other ones worth trying?

That's what I use. I tried tablet talk but couldn't get Bluetooth working on my N7, and mysms uses wifi so as long as you have the wifi on both devices turned on it works great. Slight delay but not a problem!

I use Tablet Talk and it's been working great. Sometimes my N7 receives the text before my phone does.

Tablet Talk. You can dial and answer calls from tablet talk too.

Yeah Google Voice will allow your tablet to send and receive calls and texts on it own without piggy backing off your cell phone as long as you have internet access.

Cannot find "Google Voice", it is not in my app drawer. Searching "Google Play" nothing comes up. Please help, thanks.

That's not right. I have Voice (aka Google Voice ) installed. I don't remember if it comes with the machine or I downloaded it from google play

I use Tablet Talk. I have the Nexus 7 and a Razr Maxx, also, and once you get the app set up on both devices it work flawlessly, updating in real time on both devices, no matter which you use to reply with. Bluetooth/wifi compatible, able to make and receive calls, It's well worth the money.

Google Voice should be in the Play Store. Search "pub:Google Inc." to find it.

I'm a full-time Voice user. I ported my number two years ago and I love it. You can't make calls from non phone devices, but texts and voicemail work flawlessly.

If you want to receive texts that open as a pop up, no matter what you're doing, then textPlus is for you.

The price is right for GV, and I've been using it since it came out. Don't have a text plan, don't really need one. GV rocks for texting, other than no MMS capability.

You must be a new Android user...

Go into Play Store and search for the apps. 'Local search' won't do anything for you.

Tablet Talk. Best use of a few bucks that I've made in quite a while. I don't use my GNex at all now when I'm at home..which is a good thing: that phone needs every boost to its battery life that it can get

Im using Sync SMS to send/receive SMSs on my Nexus 7. Works nicely. Uses dropbox as the medium for syncing between both devices. App has to be installed on both devices of course.
