Is it still a good time to buy a Nexus 7?
I mean, it's only been three months so it'll be OK, right?
But I just read a rumor that Google is going to update the Nexus 7 with two slimmer models that cost $99 and $199.
Not to mention the fact that the next Nexus phone (which I will be getting as well) is rumored to have a 5-inch screen, which is TOO duplicatory of the Nexus 7's 7-inch screen.
Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Is it still a good time to buy a Nexus 7?
Keep waiting for rumors and you MAY end up never getting anything. Just make a decision and go with it. I have the Galaxy S3 which has a 4.8" screen and the experience is nowhere near what it is on my Nexus 7. They're completely different devices. My assumption is that that there won't be a MAJOR change between a 4.8" screen and a 5" screen experience-wise.

I've no idea about the validity of those rumors and who knows what you'll get for just $99?? If you live on rumors I guarantee you be on the fence re high tech til you die.

Re: Is it still a good time to buy a Nexus 7?
what makes u think someone interested in Android tablets wants to switch to iOS?? I hate iOS. I just loaded 6 on my Touch. it's not nearly as useful as Android OS.

Re: Is it still a good time to buy a Nexus 7?
What makes you think they aren't? Who cares if you don't like iOS. What's that got to do with anything. I was interested in both and chose the nexus because it was available. Never had an android or iOS device before. Frankly after having the problems of audio latency and now extreme sluggishness I'm starting to think I should have waited.
With the mini announcement imminent I'd hold off and see what its like that's all. Unlike some I'm not a blind fanboi, use whatever suits you best.

Re: Is it still a good time to buy a Nexus 7?
You need to set a date that you are willing to wait on rumors or you will never get anything, I plan on getting a second 7" by Christmas, if the "mini" is out by then I'll take a look at it, if is not ready or not to my liking I will buy another Nexus 7

Re: Is it still a good time to buy a Nexus 7?
I agree with this. I bought 1 about 2 weeks ago and I am very happy with it. I also have an iPad. I don't even use my iPad anymore. Go for it and get the Nexus 7, download Nova launcher and you will not even think about an iPad. Not that you were thinking about getting 1 but I'm just saying that I don't see a big difference between the iPad mini that's coming out and the current new iPad that I have.

Re: Is it still a good time to buy a Nexus 7?
Just got mine and feel the same way. The only thing I would like is a rear camera. I'm unable to use the check deposit app for my bank, as well as not being able to quickly take a picture of a document and transform it to a pdf file.
Not sure if the next version would have a rear camera. If it does, then I probably would have wished that I waited.

Re: Is it still a good time to buy a Nexus 7?
I would probably wait a month or two if I were concerned about price or freebies. Christmas is approaching, the iPad Mini will (probably) be announced soon, and the new tablets from Amazon and Barnes & Noble might encourage price drops or promotions from Google. The $25 credit expires tonight, but I expect Google to do something to sweeten the deal for the Christmas shopping season. It all depends on how badly you want a Nexus 7. There's always a better deal or a better device on the horizon.

Is it still a good time to buy a Nexus 7?
I am reading this thread on my iPad3 debating on whether to buy a N7. It really fascinates me to no end. I really like the size, but I wish it had more storage. I could see the N7 replacing my iPad for the majority of what I do. Even though I am Mac based at home I lean more towards Google for synchronicity.
I didn't realize the $25 credit expired tonight though. I may have missed the boat on that one.

Re: Is it still a good time to buy a Nexus 7?
anytime is good for buying a device except there is a new device launch come in a month or so.
If you wait for a device you will wait for ever. also, Asus denied the $99 rumor and there is very less chance of having a device refresh. - 10-01-2012, 02:45 PM #24
Re: Is it still a good time to buy a Nexus 7?
Early adopters always pay more but get to try the newest stuff first... At 199/249 I feel its not a HUGE investment (poor college kid here) and worst case scenario you could probably get a good amount of it back should you choose to sell it or trade it towards whatever else is new
