Random question.. Does your charger emit a hissing noise?

Don't know if this is normal since I've never had a charger emit sounds before, but my N7 charger makes a weird hissing noise. It's not incredibly loud, but it is definitely audible from a few feet away. If I unplug it from the wall socket, it persists for ~5 more seconds, gradually elevating in frequency until it stops altogether. Pretty sure it's been like this ever since I got it, but I didn't really notice until a month ago.

I have it plugged in to the wall socket most of the time, out of convenience--I know I should be more energy efficient, but my laptop charger is always plugged in so I didn't think it would be an issue. Should I change my charging habits, contact ASUS, or not worry about the noise?

I would get that exchanged immediately. That's not normal.

Yea it is, transformers hiss, it's %100 normal

And it persists for a few seconds because if there capacitor discharge.

Thanks, good to know. Should I treat it with more care than a regular charger, i.e. not leaving it in the wall socket? I had contacted ASUS repair about an hour ago, and they told me I should 'get it checked out immediately'--meaning, I'd have to eat shipping costs to have it disappear for a month :P. Always glad to avoid repair hell lol

I was going to say no, but then I put my ear up to mine and I do hear a hiss, it is very quiet though on mine, I can't hear it from more than 18" away.

If you want to conserve your energy bill, then go for it, but they aren't near as bad as a lightbulb, or anything that you'd think normal to leave plugged in all the time.
