Default Wireless does not auto reconnect?

    Hi,

My home wireless connection is working fine with the Nexus 7 but whenever my router gets switched off the Nexus does not automatically reconnect to it when the router is powered back on.

I have to go into settings -> Wi-Fi -> Click on my wireless network -> Click connect

How can I set it up so that it automatically reconnects when my wireless connection is available?

    Thanks.

When you go into to your Settings and hit Wi-Fi do you see your wireless network and a list of other networks you have connected to in the past? What type of security do you have on the Wi-Fi? I go to few places and most of the time it connects to my N7 automatically.

    Yes my network is listed.

It is the only network I have connected to so far.

    Shows as WPA PSK.

It works fine with all our other devices such as Xbox, laptops,Wii,iPod,iPhone, blackberry etc.

    Any ideas?
Is this a bug as it's the only wireless device in the house I'm having issues with.

    Thanks.

Sometimes changing router or security settings will help. Also if you turn your N7 off then on does it connect? Are there any other saved routers in range?

Yes if I turn the N7 off and on it connects fine.

If I turn wireless off and on on the N7 it connects fine.

No other saved routers. The N7 has only ever connected to my home wireless connection.

    Thanks.

    1. Why turn your router off? I'd leave it on.
    2. Dont' use WPA, it's an early standard, set it to WPA2, with AES encryption.
    3. If you have regular power outages, put the router on an affordable UPS. A small one will power a router for hours.

We are all away from the house for large parts of the day and Electricity prices are going up another 20% in the UK so I would rather only have the router on when I need it.
Unfortunately there is no option for WPA2 on the router.
I guess I will just have to accept it is a "bug" with the Nexus 7 and live with it. Just don't like being told by the wife that I should have bought the IPad Mini ....

If your router doesn't offer WPA2, you've got an ANTIQUE. Go see if you can flash it with dd-WRT, an open source router firmware project that introduces way cool features that the routers' manufacturers didn't enable in their software (but the router hardware supports handily). Hint: you can schedule the radio to turn off when you're not home.

Or ... you need a newer router with some power management features.

Does the Nexus 7 have a native setting that shuts off wi-fi when it goes to sleep?
