    Default Dust and flicker

Just got my nexus 7 3 days ago and today I noticed that there is a spec of dust under the screen, it's nothing bad it's literally just one piece of dust, but I noticed it and now I can't stop looking at it. I'm very ocd about stuff like that.

Also sometimes I will notice the back light flicker. It was doing it real bad the other day and narrowed it now to my very poor wifi signal. It stopped doing it after I connected to better wifi, but today I noticed it was doing it a little bit on dim screens.

In need input. I bought it from Walmart, I have like 12 days left to return and exchange it. Don you guys think I should just go ahead and exchange it?

I don't think you should bother. Mine has a speck too and minor screen lift but for just as likely to have other problems with replacements. Anyway, it doesn't really effect this awesome tablet!

Flicker with low wifi is well known issue. Don't know if exchanging it will help

I would definitely exchange it for dust under he screen. That would drive me nuts. That is where your eye is going to go EVERY time you look at your device because you know its there.

It's all a matter of your tolerance level. Based on what you wrote regarding the dust speck (which shouldn't be there, even if it is minor), this is above your tolerance level. Therefore, you should exchange it. If possible, ask to inspect the replacement unit before checking out. Turn it on, quickly inspect for extensive screen lift, dust, and obvious dead pixels. If nothing is apparent, take it home, set it up, look a little more closely (but not too close!), and listen to something through the speaker. If everything is good and within your tolerance level, then enjoy your new Nexus 7!

I don't, however, think you'll avoid the problem of screen flicker occurring with heavy WiFi activity and a low brightness setting. I think this is "normal" with the N7. Make sure you're not set to auto-brightness, as I've heard this increases the problem.

If you are OCD about it and it bothers you, then I would exchange it. You should be enjoying your device, not eye balling that speck of dust every time you use it.

It constantly happened with my old HTC hero, drove me insane, except it would be more than one speck.

Come to think if it, the flickering only happened when I was in a dim room with auto brightness on and doing heavy downloading with u torrent. Not that big of a deal.

Yeah, and from my past experience with my first gen ipod touch, once you see dust, it only gets worse

But other than that, I freaking love this thing!

There shouldn't be any dust under the glass, the LCD is bonded to the touchscreen so there shouldn't be any space for it to get in, but I guess it is possible it got there during manufacture. You may want to consider returning it since you won't be able to get the dust out without replacing the screen. It may only be a minor defect so perhaps they may not consider it sufficient to warrant a replacement, but if you find it annoying or are likely to, then you should try and get a replacement while you can.

I didn't notice it until yesterday but who knows if it was there when I got it.

Also, I got it from Walmart, so they don't really care what the reason is they will just exchange it for me as long as I'm with in my 15 days. I'm gonna head over there Monday.

If it bothers you a lot, definitely return it.

I have insane screen flicker on this current unit. Its really, really bad, even with WiFi off so it has nothing to do with low signal on my unit.

Will have my replacement on Monday... Just praying the replacement unit isn't worse...
