SwiftKey vs. 4.2 stock keyboard - Which one wins?
I've been using SwiftKey on my N7 since day #1. I also use it on my Droid Razr (ICS). SwiftKey is working on a "Swype" feature.
How does the new 4.2 keyboard compare to SwiftKey?
(I haven't tried the new stock keyboard. My N7 is currently at home and I'm not.) - 11-14-2012, 10:36 AM #2

I think Swift key wins hands down over the stock keyboard. Is more precise and anticipates what you will type. Stock keyboard still had ways to go IMO.

Swiftkey for me. I'm not a fan of the swiping bit.

Love Swiftkey 3. I can type much faster than on my real laptop with a real keyboard without even needing a spell checker.

Re: SwiftKey vs. 4.2 stock keyboard - Which one wins?
I like swiping on my phone better, Swiftkey on the tablet. I'm using the new keyboard for now just to give it a try and I gotta say, I may convert.

I am excited for that. I will likely switch when it does come out BC I'm getting annoyed with not being able to access numbers or other key functions via long press on this new keyboard.

SwiftKey wins. I like the fact that I can swipe left and delete a word, and ican long press for all the numbers.

After using both of them, in my opinion, none are better than Swype!
Looking forward to SwiftKey with Swype mind you

Re: SwiftKey vs. 4.2 stock keyboard - Which one wins?
SwiftKey is my *favorite* keyboard, I love how smart it is... but I don't use it. I am a fan of swiping, and have been using Swype Beta on my N7.
In anticipation of the 4.2 keyboard I switched back to SwiftKey for the last week or so just to give it a shot... and I remembered why I loved it so much, but again, I prefer to swipe.
I've been rolling with the 4.2 android keyboard since I got it to see how it is, and I guess I am just spoiled by my other two keyboards, but I am not a huge fan of it. I love how it looks, and the glide works great... there are just a few "creature comforts" that I have grown used to and now prefer. I plan on giving it a fair shot though, as I would not mind uninstalling a couple keyboard apps if the stock keyboard is sufficient for me.
P.S. I am really looking forward to the SwiftKey update that includes swiping... I am fairly certain that will become my go-to keyboard instantly. - 11-15-2012, 08:27 AM #13
Re: SwiftKey vs. 4.2 stock keyboard - Which one wins?
Preferred Thumb Keyboard over SwiftKey and stock but decided to give all three a try on 4.2. Gotta say I really like SwiftKey the best now. The landscape layout and auto correct are better than I remembered and I find the whole gesture too slow and cumbersome for me. The stock Layout is too uncomfortable to type and I make way more errors on it comes compared to the SwiftKey keyboard.

I use Swype on my phones, and Thumb Keyboard on my tablets. I'm not living Thumb Keyboard on the N7 in portrait mode though...I keep missing the spacebar. I may check out Swift Key.

Re: SwiftKey vs. 4.2 stock keyboard - Which one wins?
I really can't get a handle on the 4.2 keyboard gestures. Foreign letters pop up, I can never get the word I want. I must really be doing something wrong. I read the instructions at a Google site and they don't help me very much. For now, I've disabled it.
Does anyone know if there is a video showing how to use the new 4.2 keyboard? - 11-16-2012, 07:27 AM #20Nexus 7 and Nexus 4 =)

I'm cool with stock until you switch to landscape where swiftkey just pulls away. think it will be more significant on the n10.
