Not all apps are doing it, but so far Osmos and Sims Freeplay are doing it
You launch the game and you see the homescreen through the game
It's irritating and makes the game hard to play
Only thing we've done to it is updated to android 4.2 when prompted
I'm new to both Android and tablets, so any advice/help would be greately appreciated

Keep using it for a little while. The ghosting should disappear soon enough. I base this on my personal experience with the N7, as well as reading about the issue when some reviewers had the same problem, only for it to eventually correct itself. I believe this is inherent in the screen technology.

If it continues for more than an hour or so, then I'd suggest exchanging it for another one.

I read about it being caused by brightness and being on the homescreen for too long and stuff like that

But the brightness is pretty low and it had only been on the homescreen long enough to launch the app

And it causes something like this:

That looks like more than just simple ghosting! Have you tried doing a factory data reset, just in case it's a software issue? Also, how long has it been like this, and is it getting better the longer you use it?

Thanks for the advice, I hard reset it with some help from a friend and the two games that it was having issues with seem to have been resolved, I guess it was a software issue, Thank god it was an easy fix, I'll be keeping an eye on it
