open it, menu-->settings-->Google Now-->OFF on top right
That doesn't stop the opening on screen of the app

That function was driving me crazy as it would frequently trigger when scrolling websites in landscape mode. The only way I found to disable it was to disable Google Search under apps. It does kill all search features on the device including removing the static search bar on every screen (after a reboot, was a plus as I never liked it anyway). But this solution works for me as I only use search in the browser. IMO, Google really should give us more granular control over these by adding the option to turn them off instead of resorting to killing the entire search app.Quote:

Actually I think there are some third party launchers you can install that don't have this issue.
