Yup,

My nexus 7 is encountering screen redraw...You heard it correctly folks. This never transpired before 4.2.1...

Has anyone else encountered this problem

BTW, rooted but other than that, mostly stock. Rooted for ota keeper, ad blocker, etc. Not overclocked .. Pretty much plain Jane....

Any advice would be most appreciated.

I have had 2 Nexus 7s, one of which I acquired back in July (pre-4.2). Both have had screen redraw right from day 1. It's annoying, but I've never known how to fix it. My guess is that it's related to the widgets I use. Is that a possibility?

Using 3 widgets. This did not occur prior to 4.1.2.
