"Authentication" and Google Account
Apparently, in order to do much of anything with my new Nexus, I need to get past the "Authentication Required" page. I type in my email and Google password. Usually I get "username and password don't match" error. (I checked [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] , so I know the account, email, and password are ok). Occasionally I get an error that something is wrong with the Wifi. But YouTube works fine, so WiFi must be working.
What am I missing here?
Re: "Authentication" and Google Account
do a factory reset and start over again.
settings-->backup and reset-->factory reset.
it will reboot.
also go to gmail.com in web and use the username password to login. just to make sure your password is right.

What they said. Should do the trick.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Android Central Forums

OK, this isn't a Nexus problem at the moment

My email isn't with gmail.com.
I was expecting that, once I had an email associated with a "Google" account, it would work on any "Google" site. Is that not true? Do I need to set up a different Google account for my tablet?
emails associated as Google account wont work with Android. you need to have a gmail account to make this work. gmail account is free.
