I would like to add a quote (text banner) to my nexus 7 lock screen. Any one know of a way to do this? I currently have widget locker installed but not opposed to trying another app.

For static text, Settings > Security > Owner info
Just type whatever and it displays on lock screen.

That works, but I was hoping to embellish the text a bit more - move it to different places on the screen, change font, etc.

Since you're using WidgetLocker can't you just create a widget using minimalistic text and add it to the lock screen?

I used your suggestion and found a note widget called "Memo Widget" and installed it on the lock screen with Widget Locker. It does exactly what I want - several options for formatting and only the text shows up. It works great.

Glad you found something that works for you. Sorry if my post was not clear but minimalistic text is an app that allows you to create text widgets.
